Background
For the processing of freshly caught shrimp from the Island of Mafia, the Alpha Group Kenya was looking for a reliable and robust solution. Grasso International provided the equipment and their knowhow by executing a turn-key project.
Short description of the solution
The installation consists of 5 GEA Grasso reciprocating compressors type Grasso 10.
2 in Low stage configuration, running at -40 oC and 2 in High Stage configuration, running at -10 oC. Also 1 compressor is running in a swing setup.
3 plate freezers operate simultaneously and freeze the shrimps instantly. Storage and processing areas are also cooled with the high stage temperature.
The plant is designed for easy use and solid operation. But also the possibility for expansion of the plant was taken into account.
This year (2008) the extension will already be started because of the success of the installation in the past 2 years.
